About me

I am a Yorkshire based researcher with over 30 years experience in genealogy.

After discovering a family photograph taken at the end of the 19th century, I became interested in finding out the stories of the people in front of the camera.  What was their life story?

Family research during the 1980’s and 1990’s was slow and laborious.  I spent days sifting through birth, marriage and death indexes, visiting local libraries and records offices.  It used to take hours to view one microfilm of parish baptisms and census returns.  But I loved it!

Nowadays, a lot can be done online, but there’s nothing like visiting the district in person and using the local studies library to confirm online research.  I think nothing of walking through graveyards to find an elusive ancestor.

I’m fascinated by the paths my ancestors took and would love to help other people know where their ancestry roots lie.

Although I live in Yorkshire I can access records from just about anywhere.  So far my research has taken me to Cornwall, Leicestershire, East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Hertfordshire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, London and Durham in the UK, plus Australia, India, America and the Bahamas.
